…Lists Ogah for governor, ex-Senator Nwaogu and ex-Rep Nkole for Senate
The Abia State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) which has Mr Peter Obi as the presidential candidate on Wednesday (yesterday ) that the presidential and national assembly election campaigns officially commenced, showcased its candidates for the presidency, national and state elective offices for the 2027 elections.
In the list were former two term senator for Abia Central, Hon senator Nkechi Nwaogu, former two term House of Representatives member for Arochukwu/Ohafia, Hon Uko Nkole for Abia North, including a former Abia State Information Commissioner , Chief Eze Chikamnayo, as candidate for the Umunneochi Constituency seat in the next Abia State House of Assembly
Chief Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah and Mr Bright Alaribe were showcased as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the NDC for that 2027 polls.
While showcasing the NDC candidates in Umuahia, the state capital at Britarch Events Centee, the party state Chairman, Chief Akobueze Atulomah described the NDC as the fastest growing party in the country, stating that God would use the ultimately elected party candidates from May 29th, 2027 to salvage Abia State from those whose strives to do what would be done for the state, have not been enough.
He stated that Abia State has remained in the dark despite that God provided the resources /money to procure the ‘Generator’ that would light up the state, but that those that managed the said resources /money had, instead of ‘Generator’, bought ‘Candle ‘ that cannot light up the state.
According to the state NDC Chairman (Chief Atulomah) , a new Abia is in the horizon , hence he promised that his party if elected , will ensure that dividends of democracy go round the state.
He said ” We are here today to showcase our well chosen candidates for the public to know them, and not the fake ones parading selves in the Social Media. NDC would keep singing songs of liberation, nobody owns NDC or can buy it. Lets emulate the Osun state electorate who allegedly , despite allegedly were given or offered large sums of money, still voted for the victory of their governor Ademola Adeleke for his second term according to their wish and concience”.
The state guber candidate Chief Ogah, who spoke for the showcased NDC candidates comprising the duo guber and deputy, 8 for House of Representatives, three for Senate, and 24 for the state House of Assembly, called on members that did not win their aspired the party tickets in the party primaries to remain loyal to the party, indicating that he will lead party members to visit them, stressing the need for the party to be united.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines , Hon Uko Nkole for Abia North Senate, disclosed why he decided to advance to the Senate this time and chose the NDC as the platform instead of his former PDP.
He described the NDC that has Mr Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the presidential and Vice Presidential candidates as the leading party of today , that also articulated viable solutions that would address Nigeria’s challenges.
” I got worried that many of the projects that I attracted and facilitated to my constituency as a Reps member were abandoned and left to follow by my successors.
” If elected as senator, I shall not only see to the conclusion of these projects but include new ones, using my goodwill, contacts, capacity, public service experience, to further advance Abia North desirably”.
He was asked why he seemingly is not intimidated by the capacity of his rivals like senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the APC, Dr David Ogba of the Labour Party among others.
He reacted saying that he had in the past contested and won his elections against rivals similarly described listing his younger age, energy and burning desire to uplift Abia North as part of his qualifications over his rivals, beside mass support for him.
Also, the Chairman of the state Party , Chief Atulomah while reacting to the question by journalists, if the high Billboard Advert Fees imposed on candidates by the state government would not affect their campaigns capacity, saying that the high cost imposed cannot change the desire of the people to elect people of their choice in the coming election, especially his NDC candidates.
A high point of the meeting was the tunderous acclaim and support for the candidacy of senator Nkechi Nwaogu who joined the NDC from the APC, and described as the Mother of any party she enrolls with in the state.
