Says digitally competent workforce key to smarter, efficient governance

Lagos State Government has said that digitally competent workforce is important in achieving smarter and more efficient governance. The state’s Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, made the assertion, yesterday, during a training programme themed “Leading in a Digital Age,” organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training for senior and middle-level officers at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, Lagos.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to investing in human capital development to enhance governance and service delivery. Ayantayo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Olubusola Abidakun, emphasised that the programme reflects the state government’s commitment to continuous capacity development and workforce enhancement.

He noted that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration recognises the importance of a digitally competent workforce in achieving smarter and more efficient governance.

The commissioner, however, stressed the need for participants and the entire civil servants to integrate digital knowledge into their daily responsibilities to ensure that the training programmes have a meaningful impact.

Ayantayo, while declaring the training programme open, expressed confidence that the training would enhance efficiency, boost productivity, and empower officers to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Lagos State.
