Kwarans eulogise Gov AbdulRazaq at 65

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq

Public discussants, including politicians and clerics in Kwara State, have described Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as a rare administrator who sacrificed self-ego and interest for the state.

The stakeholders poured their hearts out yesterday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council’s organised lecture to mark the 65th birthday anniversary of the governor.

Delivering a keynote address themed: “Legacy of Leadership: Examining the Long-Term Impact of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Governance on Kwarans” at the Old Offa Road NUJ Secretariat, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, said his boss has not only embraced responsibilities, “but has also exemplified a genuine commitment to the welfare and progress of Kwarans.”

While appreciating the Union for organising the event, which he described as a testament to its commitment to promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability, the Commissioner said the governor’s administration ushered in moments of optimism, transformation “and rejuvenation that we must analyse carefully to understand their lasting effects on our communities.”

“Governor AbdulRazaq took office with a clear vision for a prosperous and sustainable Kwara State, demonstrating a commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability.”

“His policies and programmes are designed to focus on various sectors including legacy projects, infrastructural developments, urban renewal initiatives, healthcare, education, agriculture, social welfare, economic empowerment, environment, and ease of doing business, among others,” he listed.

He, however, hinted that a significant element of his governance has been the emphasis on community engagement by prioritising dialogue with Kwarans and encouraging participation in the development process.

Noting the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq across all sectors, Dr Alabi urged journalists to remain resolute in holding political leaders accountable, questioning their responsibilities to the masses, and promoting policies and programmes that benefit the people.

Earlier, the NUJ state chairman, Comrade ‘Lanre Ahmed, had described the governor as a rare administrator with exclusive love for the people at heart, saying: “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is an achiever and a soothing balm for Kwarans.”

He called for cooperation and support from residents as the state navigates the next political dispensation.

A cleric, Soyyibul Bayan, wished and prayed for the continued presence of the governor in the state’s political space.
