Nigerian institution, Mudiame University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University West, Sweden, aiming to create a pathway for international internship and exchange programmes for Nigerian students in Sweden.

The MoU, signed in Sweden yesterday, will enable the exchange of academic and administrative staff and students to promote knowledge transfer and cultural exchange while creating joint research initiatives and dissemination of findings, strengthening scientific and technological advancements, as well as the exchange of academic materials, publications, and research data to foster greater access to educational resources.

The Department of Engineering Science at University West and Mudiame University formalised the partnership in recognition of their shared commitment to advancing education and research.

The agreement sets out a framework for mutual collaboration based on equality, reciprocity, and academic excellence.

The MoU was signed by the Dean of Engineering Science at University West, Professor Per Nylén, and Professor Sunny Eromosele, Chancellor of Mudiame University.

The move, which would also include collaboration in library and auxiliary services, enhancing resource availability for students and faculty, would enable the universities to make efforts to secure financial support from national and international organisations.

The MoU stipulates that all research data and findings resulting from the collaboration will be jointly shared by both institutions.

The partnership, in the first instance, is expected to remain in effect for five years from the date of signing.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Eromosele said: “This partnership marks a significant step towards advancing research and academic excellence at Mudiame University. By working with University West, we aim to create opportunities for our students and faculty to engage in global academic networks and cutting-edge research.”

The agreement is expected to strengthen ties between Nigeria and Sweden’s academic institutions, paving the way for future collaborations in engineering, science, and technology.
