Police arraign two for allegedly stealing employer’s packing nylon

Two men, Habeeb Akinbolu (40) and Daniel Akinola (45) on Monday were brought before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing a pack of nylon worth N30,000 belonging to their employer.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, were facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan.10 at about 7.00 pm at Mercury Mill Company, Km 38, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendants, who worked with Mercury Mill Company, were caught by security guards at the gate post with a pack of nylon valued at N30,000.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until March 4, for further hearing.
