
Electricity Distribution Companies such as the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and the Abuja Electricity Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) revealed that the grid collapsed at 11:34 am on Wednesday.
Both discos noted that the collapse affected the power supply in their franchise areas.
IKEDC wrote on X: “Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today 12th February, 2025 at 11:34hrs affecting all our feeders.”
The AEDC, however, noted that efforts to restore the power supply are ongoing.

“While gradual restoration of power supply has commenced, please be assured that we are working closely with relevant stakeholders to fully restore electricity as soon as the grid is stabilised.”
In 2024, Nigeria recorded a string of power disruptions and blackouts arising from multiple incidents of national grid collapses.
Before this collapse, the most recent occurred on December 11.
The national grid collapsed about four times in October 2024, making it the month with the most incidents of national grid collapses that year.
