The Federal Government has said that it would keep to the required ethical standards in the employment processes in all the paramilitary agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior.

Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major Gen Abdulmalik Jibril (Rtd), stated this while hosting management and staff of the Nigerian Legion at his office in Abuja.

He said the government is committed to ensuring transparency across all processes including the recruitment of paramilitary personnel

He said, “I take this appointment as a challenge to put in my best to uphold the vision and mandate of the Board.”

Jibril, who served as the National Chairman of the Nigeria Legion before his current appointment, expressed confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu noting that the target is to better the lives of Nigerians through improved internal security and reaffirmed his dedication to recruiting and developing proficient and ethical personnel for the paramilitary agencies under the board’s supervision.

The board secretary also expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Legion community, saying, “I must say that I lack the words to express my feelings of missing you already. I am highly impressed, and I remain indebted to all of you for the recognition and farewell gift.”

Jibril acknowledged the cooperation he received from the staff of the Nigerian Legion during his tenure as chairman, which enabled him to positively impact the lives of families of late and retired veterans.

“Through my efforts, retired officers who previously didn’t want to identify with the organization had a change of mind and registered as members.”

He also highlighted his contributions, including renovations to the Legion’s dilapidated infrastructure.

While presenting a roll-up flex banner to Jibril, symbolizing appreciation, the leader of the visiting delegation, Major Vincent Abiola, commended President Tinubu for recognizing Jibril’s qualifications for the secretary position.

He said “He (Jibril), can never be forgotten in a hurry due to his numerous achievements as well as the fatherly role he played while he was our Chairman.”
