A Lagos-based educational institution, Westerfield College, has unveiled a campus in the United Kingdom. The campus will provide English language upskilling courses, leadership training, summer camp for students aged between 10 and 17, and a pre-masters programme for graduates seeking academic refinement before enrolling in UK universities.

Besides, the founder, Mr Michael Dosunmu, added that the UK campus will offer pre-university courses in business, science and engineering. Dosunmu noted that the campus is expected to reinforce Nigeria-UK bilateral trade relations, particularly in the education sector.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our UK campus, which marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide world-class education to our students,” he said.

He assured that the UK campus will maintain the same high standards of academic excellence and integrity as the one in Nigeria.
“We are committed to providing our students with a world-class education that prepares them for success in an increasingly competitive global economy,” he said.

Speaking at the official launch of the campus at the residence of the British Deputy High Commissioner, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lauded the school’s expansion, describing it as a testament to vision and dedication.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education as a tool for progress, unity, and global understanding.

“This new campus serves as a bridge connecting cultures, ideas, and aspirations. It symbolises a shared vision for an education system that transcends borders and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully to society,” the governor stated.

He added that the expansion will not only enrich the academic landscape in the United Kingdom, but also strengthens the countries bilateral ties.On his part, the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Jonny Baxter, highlighted the importance of fostering trade between the two countries. He stressed the need for Nigerian businesses to establish themselves in the UK, reinforcing economic ties between the two countries.

“We want to see trade flourish, driving prosperity, innovation, and cooperation. Many UK businesses operate successfully in Nigeria across various sectors, including energy, financial services, infrastructure, and education.”
