Security Operatives have rescued two kidnapped victims, killed four bandits and also apprehended twelves kidnappers when they confronted armed bandits in a fierce gun battle in Kaduna.

I’m a statement by the Kaduna State Police Command, signed by its Spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan and issued to Journalists on Wednesday evening, the Police said, in continuation of its sustained clearance operations against bandits, banditry and other violent crimes in the State, “the Command has recorded another significant success during clearance operations in Ikara local government the operation led to the rescue of two kidnapped victims, recovery 2 locally made guns, 3 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, neutralization of four suspected kidnappers during exchange of fire and arrested twelve suspects in connection with banditry in the area.”

According to Hassan, “on 16th September 2026, at about 0500hrs, acting on credible intelligence received, the DPO Ikara led a team of Police operatives, in collaboration with members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) to the residence of one Haruna Yakubu of Yoromowa, Auchanawa Village.”

He said, “upon arrival, the operatives encountered armed resistance, resulting in a gun dual. During the operation, two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued. Four suspected kidnappers were neutralised namely: Kabiru Haruna , Suleman Abdulkarim, Yusuf Haruna, a.k.a. Burgagau, all of Yoromowa, Auchanawa Village, and one other.

He remarked, “the operation also led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and the arrest of twelve suspects, namely: Yahaya Hassan, Usman Hassan, Abdul Muminu Hassan, Jafaru Adamu, Buhari Usman, Usman Bashir, Samaila Yahaya, Awwalu Adamu, Maimuna Haruna, Suhaila Kabiru, Maimuna Yusuf, all of Yoromowa, Auchanawa Village, and Hassana Usman, of Yakamalam, Ikara Town.”

“All arrested suspects are currently assisting the police in establishing their individual roles and the wider network behind the criminal activities”, he stressed.

Also, the Police noted that “in the same vein, on 15th September 2026, at about 0600hrs, the DPO Makarfi led a team of Police operatives, in collaboration with the KADVS in Makarfi, on a clearance operation around the Arabu Forest Reserve in Makarfi Local Government Area”, pointing out that the “operation covered the general area from Durum through Nasarawan Doya to the Arabu River Bank, bordering Soba Local Government Area”.

 

Hassan added, “the area was thoroughly cleared of suspected criminal elements. During the operation, the operatives recovered two locally made guns, three sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and one military camouflage T-shirt abandoned in the area.”

“The joint patrol and clearance operation is still ongoing to ensure that criminal elements do not regroup or establish hideouts within the area”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Police Spokesman further explained, “the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu commended the Police personnel, KADVS and vigilante members involved in the operation, as well as the members of the public whose timely information contributed to the success of the operation.

“He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led clearance operations aimed at dismantling kidnapping networks, rescuing victims and restoring lasting peace across Kaduna State”, Hassan added.
