Bauchi Academy partners U.S. Institute to train 50 oil workers

The Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy (BOGAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PetroEd, a US-based online institute, to enhance traning of specialised oil workers.

PetroEd specialises in providing oilfield training, certifications and educational solutions.

Dr Ahmad Yaro, Rector of the academy, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Bauchi.

He said the academy would train 50 workers in key industry courses, including RigPass and Basic Principles of Petroleum.

Yaro said the academy in partnership with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), also offers professional core oil and gas courses.

He listed the courses to include Minimum Industry Safety, Certificate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Advanced Certificate in HSE, National Innovative Diploma (NID) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications technology, Computer Software Engineering, Solar Installation Technology, and Auto Mechanics.

Others are Welding and Fabrication, Building Construction and Hardware Engineering, adding that all the programmes were approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE),

According to Yaro, the primary objective is to equip youths with practical skills and knowledge that could be applied in the workforce or in entrepreneurship.

Dr Yaro said the Automotive Council of Nigeria and the National Institute of Builders would soon issued certificates to 500 graduates of the academy.

He said the academy had made significant progress in the construction and equipping of its permanent site in Alkaleri, headquarters of Alkakeri Local Government Area of the state.

Yaro lauded Gov. Bala Mohammed for his support to the academy which facilitated its smooth operations.
