A former leader of St. Mulumba Catholic Church, a group in the Benin Metro division, Kerry Jackson, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the leadership of the church, led by Sir Charles Mbelede, to reverse his expulsion or face legal action in court.
Addressing journalists in Asaba, Delta State, Jackson argued that the expulsion was illegal because he was never given a fair trial in the case of wrongdoing he was accused of.
Explaining his ordeal further, Kerry Jackson said the problem stemmed from a rule book called the KSM Constitution 2020, created in Asaba to guide how the Order is run. He alleged that the current leader of the Order, Sir Charles Mbelede, an engineer, altered it to allow him and his wife to take full control of the church.
He said he and some members opposed these changes, as Mbelede and his allies tried to force them through. In response, he resisted by writing a protest letter in 2024 to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), which oversees the Order, requesting necessary action.

Kerry Jackson also alleged that within the Order, some men who are supposed to be role models have been making advances on other members’ wives, and these incidents are being covered up.
Jackson, who insisted that he has proof to back up all his claims, said he will not be silenced and is ready to take his fight to the public if necessary.
According to him, KSM has rules that require setting up a committee to investigate any wrongdoing before a member can be expelled, but he regretted that this did not happen in his case.
He therefore demanded that the Order withdraw the expulsion within seven days or face legal action.
The Order’s Supreme Secretary, Sir Dan Egwu, in a letter dated February 12, 2025, expelled Kerry Jackson and ordered him to stop parading himself as a member of the Order.
The letter also stated that all official ties with him should be severed immediately and that his name should be removed from all KSM platforms within 48 hours, while other members were instructed to leave any online groups where Jackson is an administrator.
