The Governing Council of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo state, has appointed Vincent Ifedayo Ojo as the fourth substantive Registrar of the institution.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Isaac Oluyi, the appointment was approved at the council’s extra-ordinary meeting for a non-renewable five-year term.

According to the university’s spokesperson, Ojo brings to the position more than two decades of experience in university administration, human resource management and institutional development, having served most recently as Senior Deputy Registrar and Head of the Human Resource Division at the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State.

Oluyi stated that Ojo’s career in the Nigerian university system has also seen him serve at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he acquired extensive experience in university administration and contributed significantly to the management of key institutional processes.

The new Registrar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, now Ekiti State University, which he obtained in 2000, and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Strategic Studies from the Federal University, Lokoja, obtained in 2024.

The statement further noted that Ojo is a member and fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Administration, where he is a Member; the Institute of Corporate Administration, where he is a Fellow; and the Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development of Nigeria, where he also holds a Fellowship.

According to him, Ojo’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the university’s administrative structure and support the implementation of its strategic objectives.

The university’s leadership expressed confidence in the new Registrar’s ability to bring his extensive experience and strategic leadership to bear on the institution’s administrative operations, particularly as UNIMED continues to expand its footprint in medical education.

“With a career spanning over 20 years in the Nigerian university system, Mr Ojo is expected to bring to UNIMED a strong record of strategic leadership, administrative innovation, human resource management and operational excellence.”
