The Police Machine FC, at the weekend, in Benin, got the better of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC by winning the second edition of the Kada Unity Cup.
 
The Police Boys, who won the debut edition held last year, successfully defended the trophy after a 4-2 victory over NSCDC, and presented the trophy to the new Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, as a Valentine’s gift.
 
The final match played at Chief Lucky Igbinedion Sports Centre in Benin, witnessed a large turnout of football fans and enthusiasts, including members of the various military and para-military football clubs that participated in the event.
 
The weeklong football competition was sponsored by former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, in collaboration with the Edo State Federation Association.
 
Before the final game, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) FC defeated the Directorate of Security Service (DSS) FC 4-1 to win the third-place trophy. Highlights of the Unity Cup final were the presentation of medals, trophies, and awards to clubs and individual players, who distinguished themselves in the competition.

For their efforts, the Police Machine team went home with N1 million, the second-placed NSCDC got N500,000 while NAF received N300,000. The Highest Goal Scorer award of N100,000 was won by Buhari of NAF FC, who scored seven goals. Also, the Most Valuable Player award went to Lazarus of NAF FC with a sum of N100,000 courtesy of Fast Microfinance Bank, while the Best Goalkeeper Award of N100,000 sponsored by ITV/Radio was won by Believe Okoro of DSS FC.
