TECHNOLOGY firm, Microsoft, Wednesday, announced a move to invest $1 million in Nigeria for the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the country in the next two years.
Microsoft Country Manager, Nigeria and Ghana, Ola Williams, made the announcement at the AI Nigeria Tour conference and exhibition in Lagos.
Joined by the President, Microsoft Africa, Lilian Bernard, Williams said this has become necessary to ensure that Nigeria becomes a major hub for AI in Africa.
She said this will help Nigeria to build a sustainable system that would guarantee the effectiveness of the technology sector, cum economy.
According to her, about one million Nigerians will be trained to become self efficient in AI and other emerging technologies.
Williams, who said rather than AI takes peoples’ jobs, noted that the technology will help in creating new jobs globally, saying over 70 million new jobs will be created in Nigeria, alone.More details later…..
