EDHIC plans to enroll 500,000 persons onto the Health Insurance Scheme

The administration of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has made plans to enrol over 500,000 new enrollees onto the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme (EDHIS) before the end of this year.

This was disclosed by the Director–General of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDHIC), Mrs Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo at the medical outreach in commemoration of 100 days of his Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Edo State intends to make tremendous strides towards Universal Health Coverage this year. The Director General Secretary disclosed that EDHIC is working tirelessly to make sure that over 500,000 new enrolllees are brought onto the EDHIS and Edo state residents are protected against high out of pocket expenditures for health and they will also access quality health care at state owned health care facilities.

The DG stated that strategies to enlighten Edo State residents will be highlighted and she also emphasized why public awareness of EDHIS is very critical to its success. Every Edo State resident will be aware of the benefits of EDHIS and also various innovative initiatives implemented by the EDHIC team.

Vulnerable people in Edo state will not be left out of EDHIS and the EDHIC has come up with various innovative approaches to address the needs of the vulnerable Edo residents.
