As 2025 is nine months away, Afrobeats budding sensation, MODOLA, is geared towards seamlessly blending her African roots with global sounds to create music that resonates across audiences expressing the beauty of multilingual edge. Music has always been a part of me she states, “From a young age, I found myself drawn to rhythms, melodies, and storytelling through sound. I knew I had something to say, and music became my way of expressing emotions, experiences, and dreams. Seeing how powerful music is in connecting people and evoking emotions made me want to create something that could leave a lasting impact.”
Icons like Beyoncé, Micheal Jackson and Rihanna inspire me with their ability to dominate the industry while staying authentic to themselves, MODOLA points. She adds that, “I also look up to legendary African musicians who paved the way for our sound to be recognized globally. Their journeys remind me that success in music requires hard work, consistency, and passion.”
Talking about her creative process she says, “It is very personal and varies depending on my mood and experiences at the time. Sometimes, inspiration comes from real-life situations whether it’s love, heartbreak, success, or personal growth.
Other times, it’s the energy I feel when I hear a beat. I let the instrumentals guide me, almost like a conversation between me and the music. Once I have an idea, I start playing around with melodies, humming different flows until I find the one that feels right. Lyrics come next, I focus on writing words that tell a story and evoke emotions. I enjoy collaborating with producers and songwriters who understand my vision, as they help bring my ideas to life. Ultimately, I want my music to feel authentic and leave listeners with something meaningful.”
On what she projects for her future in the industry she discloses that, “I see myself as a global artiste with a solid impact on the music industry. I want to headline major shows, tour internationally, and use my platform to inspire other upcoming artistes, especially young women in the industry. I also plan to explore business opportunities within music, from owning a music school to mentoring and investing in other creatives. My ultimate goal is to create a lasting legacy through music and contribute to the evolution of African sounds on the global stage.”
