The Mayor of Urhoboland and renowned business mogul, Mayor Eshanakpe Israel Akpodoro, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Engr. Oluwaseyi Omotowa on his appointment as the Group General Manager (GGM) of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS).

NAPIMS, a strategic arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, oversees the federal government’s investment in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Omotowa replaces Bala Wunti, who served meritoriously in various leadership roles within NNPC before his exit.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Akpodoro described Omotowa as a “round peg in a round hole,” emphasizing that his appointment was a well-earned recognition of his decades of dedication and expertise in the industry.

“His elevation is a reward for hard work and excellence in service delivery,” Akpodoro stated, adding that Omotowa is a “goal-getter, astute, and courageous technocrat” with a proven track record in the oil and gas sector.

Omotowa, a graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Ilorin, brings 28 years of experience across the construction and oil & gas industries.

He joined NNPC Limited in June 2005 and has since held several key positions, including General Manager of Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) at NAPIMS, General Manager of Construction at the Greenfield Refinery Projects Division, and Manager of Upstream Projects in the Engineering and Technology Division.

Before his latest appointment, he served as Managing Director of the Nigerian Gas Company Limited (NGC), an NNPC subsidiary.

Akpodoro expressed confidence that Omotowa’s leadership would bring positive transformation to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

“Providence has placed a greater responsibility on him, and Nigerians expect his wealth of experience to elevate the sector further,” he said.

The Mayor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing talent and appointing an industry-tested professional to the crucial role.

As a former Niger Delta militant leader, Akpodoro called on ex-agitators and youth in the region to support Omotowa’s administration, emphasising that a peaceful environment is essential for sustainable development.

“The people of the Delta should rally behind Engr. Omotowa, who has long been at the forefront of repositioning the oil and gas industry for national progress. We have implicit confidence in his professional aptitude, he has been tested and trusted across the broad spectrum of the Nigerian oil sector,” he added.
