It specifically assured of supporting aspiring doctors from Africa, providing them with world-class medical education and international career opportunities.
With over 23,000 physicians trained since its establishment in 1976, the school restated its commitment to expanding access to medical training for students from diverse backgrounds.
Regional Director for Africa at SGU, Bradley Wade, emphasised the university’s dedication to African students, emphasising its inclusive approach.
Wade stated this in Lagos while speaking at an Education Agents Workshop organised for agents in Nigeria and Kenya.
“At SGU, we recognise the immense potential of students from Africa and the critical need for well-trained doctors in the region. Our programmes are designed to ensure that students, regardless of their educational background, receive the necessary support to thrive in medical school and ultimately serve their communities,” he said.
Executive Director of International Student Recruitment, David Anthonisz, said SGU remains a top destination for African students aspiring to become world-class doctors.
“Our goal is to produce compassionate, highly competent doctors who will make a meaningful impact both at home and abroad,” Anthonisz stated.
The workshop brought together over 62 key recruitment agents for a series of interactive sessions in Lagos and Nairobi.
It was designed to strengthen SGU’s collaboration with recruitment partners in key African markets. These agents play a vital role in guiding prospective students through the application process and providing them with essential information about SGU’s Doctor of Medicine programme.
Anthonisz noted: “This workshop underscores our dedication to international collaboration. Ensuring that our recruitment partners are well-equipped with in-depth knowledge of SGU’s programme/tracks to better support aspiring medical students in Africa and beyond.”
Beyond building stronger relationships, the event served as a platform for agents and school counsellors to discuss students’ career aspirations, gain deeper insights into SGU, understand MD programme specifics, and explore the admissions process.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with SGU representatives and gain valuable insights into the institution’s medical programmes.
