The Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Professor Reuben Eifediyi, has been widely commended for his leadership in constituting the Board of Trustees (BOT) for the Admiral Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation. The foundation, established in honor of the late Admiral Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu, former Vice President of Nigeria, is dedicated to enhancing accident and emergency healthcare at ISTH.

Among the 27 distinguished appointees is Dr. (Amb.) Victoria Ekhomu, a renowned security expert and leader. Expressing her gratitude, she stated, “I am honored to be appointed to this Board and committed to ensuring that the legacy of our late Admiral A.A. Aikhomu is preserved through this foundation.”

At the event, the daughter of Aikhomu, Mrs. Vinitha Nimmyel née Aikhomu represented her mother, Mrs. Rebecca Aikhomu. The late admiral’s daughter while speaking on behalf of the family became emotional as she recalled her father’s dedication to quality healthcare. She thanked Professor Eifediyi and the BOT members for recognizing his contributions.
