A former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has said he’s still a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a terse statement, Fayemi dismissed a story circulating on several online platforms alleging his defection from the APC.
News of the alleged defection became rife after a foundation member of the APC, former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, dumped the party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Dissociating himself from such defection, Fayemi said, “As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card carrying foundation member of the APC and this position has not changed.
“While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy.”
