Following her unique journalistic prowess, Delta State Government recently appointed Rosemary Nwaebuni as the first female General Manager of The Pointer.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, “it is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Delta State government has approved the appointment of Deputy General Manager (Editorial), Mrs Rosemary Eziafa Nwaebuni, as the substantive General Manager of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation with effect from February 17, 2025. Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC) are publishers of The Pointer titles.

Until her appointment, Nwaebuni was the editor of The Pointer (weekend) and chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), The Pointer Chapel.

A graduate of Mass Communication from the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Nwaebuni started her journalism career as a sports writer and rose through the ranks, proving her mettle.

With this appointment, Nwaebuni, who takes over from Mr Godfrey Ubaka, becomes the first General Manager of the corporation. Her appointment has sparked profuse excitement among staff members of the corporation and industry observers.

Executive Director Media Rights Agenda (MRA) Edetaen Ojo recalled, “Rosemary was with us in our Enugu workshop on Using the FOI Act for Investigative Reporting, which took place in November 2023.”
