Power Outages in FCT: DisCo blames feeder fault, assures restoration

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has disclosed that the ongoing power outages affecting more than 20 areas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are due to a technical fault in the feeder that supplies electricity to these areas.
The affected areas include Jabi, Kado, Life Camp, Idu, Karmo, Citec Mbora, Airport Road, Nile University, Karimajiji, Kuchingoro communities, Lugbe FHA1, and NIA Senior and Junior.
Other impacted locations include Baba Gida Market, Mr. Biggs, Tipper Garage, Okada Bridge, Peace Village, Lugbe FHA2, AMAC Market, New Site Leg, CBN Estate, Sharon Leg, IR Estate, NNPC T. Pumpy, and Rebando Football Arena.
“We regret to inform you that the power outage is due to a technical fault on the feeder serving these areas,” the DisCo said in the statement.
However, it claimed that its technical staff are working “tirelessly” to get the power back as soon as possible.
In a separate notice, AEDC also announced that there will be a power outage in parts of Kontagora and its surrounding areas due to an annual maintenance exercise being conducted by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
AEDC informed residents and businesses in the 33/11KV Kontagora Injection Substation, Sahara Hotel, Rice House, Sani Bello, Goje Factory, Sarkin Daji House, Kontagora Town, and nearby locations that the maintenance will take place today, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
It stated, “Dear valued customers in the 33/11KV Kontagora Injection Substation, Sahara Hotel, Rice House, Sani Bello, Goje Factory, Sarkin Daji House, Kontagora Town, and surrounding areas.
