FMITI inaugurates committee to boost AfCFTA implementation

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) has officially inaugurated the Central Coordination Committee (CCC) to enhance Nigeria’s implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Speaking at the inauguration, the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Odunwole, described the event as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s trade future. She emphasised that the CCC would play a vital role in ensuring better coordination among stakeholders, streamlining efforts across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

According to the minister, the CCC is designed to bring clarity, structure, and cohesion to Nigeria’s national strategy on AfCFTA.

She expressed optimism that the initiative would accelerate collaboration, drive impactful outcomes, and position Nigeria to fully harness the opportunities within the continental trade agreement.

The AfCFTA, which aims to create a single market for goods and services across Africa, presents a major opportunity for Nigeria’s economy.

With the establishment of the CCC, FMITI aims to strengthen the country’s readiness and competitiveness in the evolving trade landscape.
