The suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, of plotting with a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to kill her.

She also stated that both men are behind the recall petition against her which has been received by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Akpoti-Uduaghan made the allegation while addressing a crowd of supporters at her homecoming rally in Kogi on Tuesday.

She said, “Let me say this now. On the 14th of March… Mind you, two days before that, which was on the 12th, Akpabio spoke to Governor Ododo to recall me, but he told him it won’t be possible because the masses are with her, the people are with her.”

She said Ododo’s response didn’t please Akpabio and so he sent for his predecessor Bello who was driven from Hilton Hotel by another Senator to see him.

“I was informed of everything. The meetings was in twofold. They told him to commence my recall and that he was going to fund it. Of course, monies changed hands that night. The second thing he told him was that he should try and kill me. I didn’t make this public, but I wrote to the police. I am standing by what I’ve said. He told him that he should make sure that killing me does not happen in Abuja, it should be done here so it will seem as if it’s the people that killed me here,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said

She stated that she didn’t make the information public at the time but ensured that security agencies were notified.

She also revealed how she was removed from a Senate committee by Akpabio.

She said, “In his words, he said, ‘how can such resources from the Niger Delta be moved to the north that you did not stop it?’ By the way, it is because of the five LNG projects that Akpabio removed me from the committee of local content.”
