As the global media landscape evolves with AI-driven content, decentralized storytelling, and rising demand for diverse narratives, one continent stands out as both underrepresented and overflowing with potential: Africa.

And that’s exactly where Lakshay Jain, the 21-year-old Indian entrepreneur and founder of USA based media company Mascan, is placing his approach.
“Africa needs more global media exposure,” Jain said in a recent announcement. “Some of the world’s best talent is coming from this region — and it’s time we collaborate with them, not work around them.”
Mascan, a fully bootstrapped digital media holding company with a presence in over 30 countries, is now officially expanding into Africa. The announcement was first made via Jain’s personal LinkedIn, followed by a full statement published on Mascan’s website.
Why Africa and, Why Now?
Africa is home to one of the world’s fastest-growing freelance markets. With a rising population of young, digitally-native creatives, the continent is producing content, culture, and stories that are gaining traction on global platforms — yet often remain disconnected from large-scale global media networks.

Jain sees this as an opportunity not just for expansion, but for meaningful collaboration.
“At Mascan, we believe the most impactful media is global in vision but deeply local in execution,” he wrote in the official release. “We’re here to co-create, support, and amplify African narratives — with authenticity at the core.”
What to Expect
Mascan’s entry into Africa won’t be rushed. Jain emphasized that this move is just the beginning of a long-term plan, with an initial focus on partnerships, integrations with Africa-based media brands, and working directly with creators on the ground.
“We’re taking this step by step, with intention and curiosity,” he added. “Our growth only makes sense if it aligns with the people and stories we’re trying to serve.”
