In an extraordinary act of kindness, South African entrepreneur and founder of DafriBank Digital, Xolane Ndhlovu, has gifted ₦5 million to a Nigerian woman, Odoh Mary Ukamaka, after she was publicly humiliated at a hotel in Awka, Anambra State.
The incident, which went viral on social media, involved Ukamaka being left stranded after a man who had invited her to the hotel ordered an expensive bottle of Azul and other services, only to vanish without settling the bill. The young woman, unable to pay, was reportedly embarrassed by hotel staff in full view of onlookers.
The video triggered widespread sympathy across Nigeria, with many describing the episode as both humiliating and heartbreaking. Social media users condemned the man’s behaviour and offered words of support to the visibly distressed Ukamaka.
