The National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has brought critical humanitarian aid to families in the Ruga Madawaki community of Ado, Nasarawa State, as part of its ongoing efforts to support vulnerable Nigerians affected by hardship and displacement.
Relief supplies, including staples such as rice, beans, and cassava flour, were distributed among residents facing severe economic challenges. The initiative, led by the NLTF’s Deputy Director of Operations, Bankole Kamorudeen, also included other forms of support aimed at improving the living conditions of the local population.
“We are committed to providing assistance to those in need, particularly in communities that have been affected by various challenges,” Kamorudeen said during the distribution exercise, speaking on behalf of the Fund’s leadership.
The gesture was met with appreciation by the recipients, many of whom have struggled to meet basic needs in recent months. One beneficiary, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the intervention as timely and life-saving. “We are grateful for the support. It has helped us to meet our basic needs,” the resident said.
The NLTF has in recent years widened its scope of intervention to include humanitarian and social support services in addition to its traditional role in sports and infrastructure development.
For the residents of Ruga Madawaki, Friday’s relief mission served not only as a source of sustenance but also as a sign that their struggles have not gone unnoticed by national institutions.
