FOR residents of Ogun State to enjoy benefits of the five points Agenda of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, a mini Laboratory has been launched in Abeokuta, the state capital, to meet part of their health demands.

Commissioning the laboratory, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Soyinka said the purpose of the lab is to check all drugs coming into the Central Medical Store with the aim of detecting fake and adulterated drugs and ensure that genuine ones are given to patients at the hospitals.

He said with the mini lab on ground, the production and finances would no longer be burden on the state government.

“We are living in the shadow of danger by taking sub-standard drugs. So with the mini lab in our state we can be rest assured of better drugs across the state,” Soyinka said.

He said government would now be working directly with the drug producers to guaranty a quality product, saying that it would also guarantee the supply of tested drugs across the state.

In her address, the Permanent Secretary Pharm. (Mrs.) Modupe  Olurin said the lab would also serve as a source of revenue generation to government, adding that modesty would be channeled maximally.

She said the citizens of the state have never enjoy the kind of privilege that the present administration has introduced to the health sector in the state.

In her goodwill message, the representative of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) Pharm. (Mrs.) Shakirat Arasi said laboratory is needed in the pharmacy department to compliment efforts of the pharmacists in the state.
