A group, Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), on Sunday, urged President Bola Tinubu to reorganise Nigeria’s security architecture to give room for people with fresh ideas to tackle the worsening situation of killings and kidnappings across the country.
The National President of the group, Olalekan Hammed, made the call in a statement made available to The Guardian in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The president said there was a need for an urgent major shakeup in the Nigerian Armed Forces so that another set of officers could employ new initiatives and tactics to curtail the menace of terrorism in various states.
Hammed said: “President Tinubu should reorganise Nigeria’s security architecture to give room for people with fresh ideas to tackle the worsening situation of killings and kidnappings across the country.
“A year ago our military men were able to neutralize many of the bandit leaders and their menace was put on hold. Surprisingly, the rate at which they are unleashing terror at present in many communities is beyond imagination.
“There is a need for an urgent major shakeup in the Nigerian Armed Forces so that another set of officers will employ new initiatives and tactics to curtail the menace of terrorism in various states.
“Besides that, politicians who are behind the unrest nationwide should note that they cannot use insecurity as a political strategy and win in 2027.”
The group also said the president would be re-elected in 2027.
He added: ”No matter how desperate or devilish they are, President Bola Tinubu will be reelected in 2027.”
