Guyana, a Caribbean nation is grappling with intense religious turmoil after a 11-year-old kid, named Adrianna Younge from the country was found dead in a swimming pool in suspicious conditions. The hotel owner’s residence along with the hotel has been burnt to ashes and protests are intensifying, with government pushed to implement a curfew to tackle rising crime.
The alleged incident took place on 24th April 2025, and earlier reports from the police officials pointed that the girl went outside the hotel as she was kidnapped, however the situations turned chaotic in the country after Adrianna’s body was found in the swimming pool of the same hotel, where the police investigated earlier. The family of the victim put the authorities at fault of not handling the situation properly, which caused widespread protests across the country.

An autopsy was also announced by the government, however the family refused to get it performed by a government appointed pathologist. To this request, they hired another pathologist who performed the autopsy, which revealed that Adrianna died out of drowning in water.
The family refused to accept the result as Adrianna’s father was seen emotional as he claimed that pathologist’s decision is of ‘No Result’ for him. As the decision was ruled out, protestors came out on streets and situations in the country have now rose to severe turmoil’s, to which the government had to issue a curfew.
Protestors have burned key businesses, looted the supermarkets and some even destroyed several Hindu temples across the country as a rage towards the religion. The acts of vandalism took place as locals argued that the owner of the Double Day hotel was a Hindu and involved in black magic, to which she sacrificed Adrianna Younge.
While the investigations are underway, authorities are yet to rule out any decision in the case. Whereas the protests in Guyana are turning tense and chaotic with each passing day as locals demand justice.
