FiguresHub has called for urgent action in Africa to bridge the rising digital divide on the continent.
With a focus on leading the digital uprising, Figureshub noted that Africa is home to the world’s youngest population, saying by 2030, 42 per cent of the world’s youth would be African.
According to it, while global economies surge ahead into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, millions of African youths are left on the margins, disconnected from the digital economy that defines modern prosperity.
Co-founder of FiguresHub Africa, Vincent Didanda, said the lack of digital skills isn’t just an education issue, it’s an economic crisis waiting to happen.
Didanda said that without urgent action, Africa risks becoming a consumer continent instead of a creator continent.
“Every day, we meet brilliant, driven individuals who have the will but not the way. “They don’t lack ambition; they lack access,” he stated.
According to him, through affordable, accessible, and career-oriented programmes in cybersecurity, data analytics, software development, and more, FiguresHub Africa has become a beacon of hope for hundreds of young Africans.
He said the firm not only teaches but also mentors, coaches and launches them into real careers. Its offerings include beginner-friendly courses that meet global industry standards, hands-on projects and portfolios that employers recognise, soft skills training for holistic career readiness and LinkedIn profile optimisation, job placements, and career mentorship, among others.
“We walk with our learners from ‘zero to job-ready’. That is what makes us different. We don’t just teach, we transform,” Didanda stated.
While FiguresHub Africa has trained hundreds of learners and aimed to train 50,000 Nigerians within two years, the scale of the need dwarfs current resources.
According to the firm, which said government budgets for tech education remain woefully inadequate, noted that private sector initiatives, while growing, are fragmented.
He said millions of young Africans are being left behind in a rapidly digitising world.
“We cannot do this alone. The vision is bigger than us. We need governments, donor agencies, NGOs, and visionary partners to join us,” Didanda stated.
He said Africa’s future depends on the youth empowered today.
“FiguresHub Africa is urgently calling on key stakeholders, government agencies, donor organisations, corporate partners, and high net-worth individuals to join us in building a digitally skilled and empowered generation.”
According to him, Africa does not lack potential, it only lacks access. He said with the right investments, “we can create the next generation of global tech leaders right here, at home”.
