COOU confers honorary degree on Keystone Bank chair

Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Chairman of Keystone Bank Limited, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in recognition of her contributions to industry, education, and national development.

The conferment took place during a special convocation ceremony held on Saturday, 24 May 2025, at the university’s main campus in Igbariam, Anambra State. Formerly known as Anambra State University, COOU described the honour as a testament to Lady Chukwudozie’s impact across Nigeria’s corporate and industrial sectors.

Currently serving as the Group Executive Director of Dozzy Group of Companies, Lady Chukwudozie brings over 29 years of experience in governance, strategy, and administration in the oil and gas, energy, and manufacturing industries.

In her acceptance speech, the honouree expressed deep gratitude to the university community for the recognition, describing it as a call to further service.

“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It is not just a personal milestone but a call to do even more in service of our nation,” she said. “COOU stands as a centre of excellence, producing individuals who have shaped Nigeria’s development across all spheres.”

She commended the institution’s leadership for their dedication to fostering academic excellence and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s education sector.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, noted that the award was reserved for individuals who had demonstrated exceptional professional achievements and shown commitment to societal growth.

“Lady Chukwudozie’s contributions to industry and education, particularly her support for COOU’s infrastructural development, have distinguished her as a true partner in progress,” Professor Omenugha said.

The event drew a host of distinguished personalities, including the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, and his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, who was also recognised during the ceremony.

Also present were the Managing Director and CEO of Keystone Bank, Mr Hassan Imam; Chairman of Dozzy Group, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie; Directorate Head, South, Keystone Bank, Dr Eucharia Ken-Agbiriogu; and Ugochukwu Anwusi, Regional Head, South East, Keystone Bank. Others included Kingsley Chukwu, Zonal Head, South East, Keystone Bank, among several senior executives and dignitaries.

Lady Chukwudozie is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for the South East, representing over 150 companies. She is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators, and the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Council of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.

An advocate for women and rural development, she is the founder of the Association of Professional Women on Rural Development (PWORD) and publisher of Vogue Afrique Magazine. Her achievements have earned her numerous national and international accolades.
