Nigeria begins preparations for Saudi 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games

Nigeria has started preparations for the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games billed for Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 21, 2025.
  
The Islamic Games is returning to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after 20 years, and, according to the organisers, this year’s games is expected to set new standards and unite athletes from the over 57 member countries of the bloc worldwide.
  
The National Sports Commission said, yesterday, that the Islamic Solidarity Games presents another opportunity for Team Nigeria to expose its athletes and also discover new talents, while playing its part in the ultimate objectives of uniting the diverse cultures and humanity, that the Games stand for.
  
As part of preparations for the Games, the NSC said that its Director General, Bukola Olopade, is attending a two-day seminar in Riyadh as the Chef de Mission for Team Nigeria.
  
“The seminar will allow all participating countries to get acquainted with the games’ new guidelines and mode of operation,” the NSC said in a statement.
  
The Guardian, learnt, yesterday that Olopade departed the country for Saudi Arabia on Friday, shortly after the conclusion of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
  
The NSC statement stated that Olopade’s participation at the Games’ strategic seminar is expected to ensure Team Nigeria is fully equipped with all the regulations and requirements needed for the country to record a successful outing in November.
