Youth group hails Tinubu over Danfulani appointment, begins mobilisation for 2027

The North West Youth Network has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Yazeed Shehu Danfulani as Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), describing the move as a significant step towards youth inclusion and merit-based leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the group’s Coordinator, Bashir Kawu, said Danfulani’s appointment had restored faith among young professionals across the North West region in the federal government’s willingness to recognise and empower technocrats regardless of age or political affiliation.

“We commend President Tinubu for this forward-thinking decision. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani is a proven leader in agribusiness and public finance. His appointment sends a clear message — competence matters,” Kawu stated.

Danfulani has assumed his role at NAIC, the federal agency charged with agricultural insurance and risk management for farmers. Kawu said his leadership is expected to revitalise the institution and make its services more accessible to rural farmers, particularly in underserved regions.

“Many young and small-scale farmers in the North West have long been excluded from key agricultural safety nets. With Danfulani at the helm, we anticipate a shift toward practical support and grassroots engagement,” he said.

Beyond commending the appointment, the group declared its intention to launch a mass mobilisation campaign in support of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. According to Kawu, the network has begun setting up structures across the seven North West states, targeting the registration and engagement of first-time voters.

“Our goal is ambitious but achievable — to deliver at least 20 million votes from the North West in 2027,” he said. “This is a show of gratitude and belief in the president’s leadership.”

The group said its strategy includes town hall meetings, sensitisation drives, and community-level outreach to highlight the administration’s efforts, including the appointment of young professionals such as Danfulani.

“We are taking this message beyond social media. We’re going to the farms, markets, schools — speaking directly to people who need to see the impact of good governance,” Kawu added.

The network called on Danfulani to ensure NAIC expands its coverage to smallholder farmers, youth-led cooperatives, women in agriculture, and players in the agritech sector.

“This is not the time for bureaucracy,” the group said. “Let NAIC become a real support system — not just an Abuja-based agency. Farmers across the North West should feel its presence.”

Kawu also urged other federal agencies to follow the example by embracing merit, youth inclusion, and regional balance in future appointments.

“Every appointment sends a message. This one shows that President Tinubu is listening. Our response, as young people, is mobilisation and delivery,” he said.
The North West Youth Network concluded by reaffirming its commitment to working with traditional institutions, community leaders, and other stakeholders to keep youth voices visible in national decision-making.
