The North Central Good Governance Ambassadors have commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Cyril Tsenyil as the pioneer Managing Director of the newly established North Central Development Commission (NCDC), describing the move as a strategic milestone for the region.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Moses Audu, the group lauded the appointment as both visionary and pragmatic, adding that it reflects the president’s commitment to inclusive governance and regional equity.
“For years, the North Central region lacked a federal intervention framework tailored to its specific development needs,” the statement read. “With the creation of the NCDC and the appointment of Mr Cyril Tsenyil to lead it, the zone now has both the structure and the leadership to address long-standing challenges.”
The group described Tsenyil as a seasoned technocrat with a proven track record in project execution, policy development, and community-based initiatives.
According to Audu, the new MD brings not only administrative competence but a deep understanding of the grassroots issues facing the region.
“He is someone who has turned policies into real impact — not from behind a desk, but on the ground where development is most needed,” Audu said.
The Ambassadors expressed confidence that under Tsenyil’s leadership, the NCDC would avoid the pitfalls that have affected similar institutions and instead emerge as a results-oriented body.
“The expectations are understandably high,” the statement added. “But we believe Mr Tsenyil has the integrity, vision, and professional discipline to meet them. From infrastructure and agriculture to security and youth empowerment, he understands the scope of the task at hand.”
They urged stakeholders across the North Central geopolitical zone — including state governments, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, and youth groups — to unite behind the Commission and support its development objectives.
The group also thanked President Tinubu for responding to persistent advocacy for a commission dedicated to the region, noting that his decision reflects political courage and a genuine desire to close regional development gaps.
“This is not just a policy decision — it is a legacy move,” Audu said. “President Tinubu has given North Central Nigeria a long-awaited institutional voice, and more importantly, he has appointed a credible leader to drive that agenda forward.”
The Good Governance Ambassadors pledged their full support for the Commission’s mandate, promising to work collaboratively with the new leadership to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable impact.
“We will support, monitor, and celebrate success where it is earned,” the group stated. “We are here to build, not to obstruct. Our goal is shared — the development of North Central Nigeria.”
They called on the Federal Government to ensure that the NCDC is adequately funded and empowered, urging parity in support when compared to other regional commissions such as the NDDC and NEDC.
“With the right support and Mr Tsenyil in charge, we are confident that the North Central Development Commission will set a new standard for regional transformation,” the statement concluded.
