Prophet Adegboyega Ologbonyo, the Zonal Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C) Boanerges, has appealed to the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to urgently intervene in the prolonged power outage affecting the Ise-Orun and Emure communities in Ekiti State.
The cleric expressed deep concern over the eight-month-long blackout, which he said has plunged the communities into hardship and economic stagnation.
“Businesses have been crippled, leading to significant financial losses, and many families are grappling with severe hardship as they struggle to meet their basic needs,” Ologbonyo lamented.
Having lived and served in the communities for over 26 years, the cleric said he has firsthand knowledge of the persistent challenges residents face, including the absence of pipe-borne water.
“I have never seen any functioning pipe-borne water system in these communities. Our people are forced to spend valuable time, energy, and resources searching for water—a basic necessity that should be readily available,” he said.
Beyond the lack of electricity and water, Ologbonyo also decried the deplorable condition of roads in the Ise-Orun and Emure areas, noting that the poor infrastructure hampers economic activity and burdens daily commutes.
“Most residents are farmers. If roads connecting farms to cities are made motorable, it would significantly boost local economic development,” he said.
He specifically mentioned the dilapidated roads linking Uso, Ijan, and Agbado to Ise-Ekiti, as well as Emure Ilé to Ọwọ, saying these are vital routes for agricultural trade. According to him, the current state of the roads not only stifles economic growth but also poses security risks.
“These roads have become hideouts for kidnappers. The deteriorating security situation is causing fear and uncertainty, discouraging potential investors and threatening the economic potential of these communities,” he said.
Ologbonyo praised Governor Oyebanji as a compassionate and responsive leader, expressing confidence that his appeal would be heard.
“I know our Governor to be a good listener and a leader who truly cares about the welfare of his people. That is why I am laying these pressing issues before him,” he stated.
The cleric urged the state government and relevant stakeholders to take immediate steps to restore electricity, ensure access to clean water, rehabilitate roads, and enhance security in the affected communities.
“These are not mere desires; they are fundamental rights that will greatly improve the lives of our people,” he emphasized.
He also recommended the adoption of modern technologies such as drones to bolster security efforts in the state.
“I pray the Lord continues to bless His Excellency and every stakeholder involved in the governance of our dear state. Your efforts to improve the lives of Ekiti citizens are deeply appreciated,” he concluded.
