Lion Club renovates, commissions school’s dining hall

In a demonstration of commitment to youth development and community service, Lions Club District 404B3 has commissioned a fully renovated and furnished dining hall at Lagos State Model Senior College, Badagry, Lagos.

The extensive renovation described as a near-complete rebuild is a Legacy Project of the Lions 2024/2025 Service Year. The project, which took approximately five months to complete, saw the elevation of the previously low-roofed dining hall and a comprehensive upgrade of its structure and aesthetics to ensure a more conducive and dignified environment for students.

The commissioning ceremony drew notable Lion leaders and dignitaries, including Past International Director Africa, Lion Engr. HOB Lawal; International Director Africa, Lion Dame Adetope Tycus; Multiple Council Chairperson, Lion Anogwe Anyanwu; and Constitutional Area 8 Leaders, Lion Gbolagade Adebisi and Lion TOS Adewunmi. The Commissioner for Education, represented the Deputy Governor.

Speaking during the event, District Governor Lion Ibrahim Jide Bello described the initiative as more than a structural upgrade.

“This project is a statement of compassion, commitment, and service—values that define the Lions Club.”

It is not just about rebuilding a space, but about restoring dignity and creating a place where students can thrive and grow,” he said.

Echoing the sentiment, Multiple Council Chairperson of MD 404 Nigeria, Lion Anogwe Anyanwu applauded District 404B3 for undertaking such a transformative project, emphasising the importance of investing in children’s education as the most valuable contribution to their future.

In appreciation, the school principal, Mr. Fatide Francis, expressed deep gratitude to the Lions Club for their generous gesture, which he described as a testament to their dedication to the wellbeing and development of students.
