The Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has constituted seven strategic committees to address key challenges affecting the education sector in the state.
The committees were set up to strengthen accountability, improve governance, enhance policy implementation, and support the objectives of the State of Emergency on Education declared by Governor Dauda Lawal.
This was contained in a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Comrade Bashir Abashiya, and made available to journalists in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, the committees are tasked with responsibilities cutting across critical areas, including grievance redress mechanisms, school administration, infrastructure management, standards enforcement, and coordination of educational programmes and activities.
The committee on Grievance Redress Mechanism under the State of Emergency on Education Action will be chaired by Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu Anka, with Dr. Salisu Dalhatu Agile serving as secretary.
Other members include Prof. Rabiatu Musa Mafara, Bashar Tsafe, Nura Salihu Anka, Maryam Mohammed Anka, Sani Na Gwaggo, Naziru Habibu, Garba Dan Azumi, and Adamu Nahantsi.
The Committee on Vacation of Unauthorized Occupants of Teachers’ Quarters will be chaired by Dahiru Shehu Madawaki, while Dr. Ashiru Abubakar will serve as secretary.
Members include Bashar Abdullahi Maikano, Dr. Abdullahi Haruna, Bello Abdullahi Gada, Nasiru Mohammed Mada, Garba Muntari, Dr. Rabiu Shehu, and Amina Kabiru of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board.
The Committee for Handover of JSS and Girls Focal Schools to the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board will be chaired by Prof. Nasiru Garba Anka, with Garba Abdullahi as secretary.
Members are Muktar Hamza Gusau, Mainasara Shehu Mafara, Binta Ayuba, Kabiru Dankiyo, Binta Dan Gusau, Habibu Rabiu, and Bello Abubakar Moriki.
The Committee on Planning and Coordinating End-of-Year School Activities and Celebrations will be chaired by Luba Amnani, while Bello Mohammed Gusau will serve as secretary.
Members include Isiyaka Mohammed Zurmi, Ahmad Halliru Yahaya Fazamss, Samaila Musa, Shaawanatu Hamza, Hafsat M. Mayana, Larai Musa, Musa Yahaya, and Aminu Alhaji.
The Committee on Schools’ Farm Development, Management and Sustainability will be chaired by Dije Ahmad Gusau, with Alhaji Nasiru Ahmad Gusau as secretary.
Members include Dr. A.M. Doga, Dr. Bashiru Samaila Mafara, Balarabe Ibrahim, Nura Anka, Mariya Usman, Shuaibu Bala, Kabiru Mamuda, and Aliyu Guraguri.
The Committee on Enforcement of Minimum Standards and Regulatory Compliance in Private Schools will be chaired by Hauwa Kulu Naala, while Bashar Usman will serve as secretary.
Members include Dr. Mohammed Bawa Gummi, Shuaibu Umar, Sani Usman, Hamza Sambo Wonaka, Ahmad M. Kanoma, Safiya Abdullahi, Baraka Abdullahi, and Mohammed Buhari.
The Committee on Ban of Trading and Unauthorized Commercial Activities Within School Premises will be chaired by Umma Yusuf Anka, with Lawal Mukhtar as secretary.
Members include Asmau Abdullahi, Aliyu Haidara, Sanusi Abdullahi, Isah Shuaibu, Aisha Ladi Bawa, Zalihatu Salau, Asabe Aliyu, and Ishaqa Abdullahi.
