Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday, launched a special performance delivery compact called the Legacy Compact to track results and measure deliverables of his administration to the people.
Makinde, who launched the initiative at the Omituntun 2.0 midterm leadership retreat held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), mandated all MDAs to identify five deliverables each that could be accomplished by 2027.
The launch was in line with the Oyo State Government’s policy on assessment and evaluation, a retreat usually convened with top government functionaries, political appointees and permanent secretaries of Ministries, Department and Agency (MDA)s to reflect and redefine their perspectives for better governance.
Delivering his keynote address at the retreat, Makinde proposed that an Oyo State delivery task force be set up to beam its searchlight and track legacy projects until 2027, as well as engage in a monthly review system to solve challenges before they escalate.
He also took the opportunity to clarify the widespread public misconceptions surrounding the ongoing ₦63 billion Government House project, stating that the project is not merely a renovation, but a full-scale reconstruction aimed at giving the state a befitting seat of power.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, explained that the retreat would afford them a sincere introspection to finish well and strong.
