Tinubu urges full utilisation of Abuja infrastructure projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians, particularly residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to take full ownership and maximise the benefits of the infrastructure being delivered by his administration, emphasising that roads and development projects must translate into real improvements in people’s lives.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the newly constructed 15-kilometre A2 to Pia Town Road, President Tinubu highlighted the critical role of infrastructure in transforming communities, stimulating the economy, and bridging development gaps, especially in underserved rural areas.

“Road and infrastructure development are meaningless if we don’t develop them for the benefit of our people,” the President said.

“This road must be more than just a pathway; it should be a lifeline for commerce, agriculture, education, and daily living.”

The President emphasised that Nigerians must take full advantage of the infrastructure projects being implemented across Abuja and beyond, just as he urged communities to protect, maintain, and utilise them to enhance their livelihoods.

“To the people of Pia, this is your road,” he stated. “I urge the community to take ownership of this infrastructure, guide it, maintain it, and use it to the fullest. Let it be a bridge to a better life for the youth, farmers, traders, and students.”

President Tinubu also expressed admiration for the work of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and his team, applauding their focus on rural development and people-centred governance.

“A leader like Barrister Nyesom Wike and his team is doing a wonderful job, thinking about the people and their needs,” Tinubu said. “We greatly appreciate your efforts in delivering projects that impact real lives.”

The President underscored the strategic significance of the A2–Pia Town Road, noting that it not only improves connectivity but also opens new corridors for agriculture, enterprise, and education in the region.

“This is not just a road; it’s a gateway to prosperity,” he said. “Rural communities like Pia have long been hindered by isolation and poor access. With this project, that narrative is changing.”

He also used the opportunity to reiterate his administration’s commitment to addressing long-standing issues in agriculture and livestock management, pledging support for ranches and modern grazing practices to turn conflict zones into centres of productivity.

“We will help you. We will work with you to turn what used to be a liability into a source of prosperity,” he assured.

President Tinubu called on landowners, farmers, and investors to recognise the value added to the area and seize new opportunities for development and enterprise.

“Those of you who own real estate around here will be extremely happy for this value addition,” he said. “We will do more for all of you.”

He praised the contractors for the quality and durability of the road and recognised their role in national development.

“You have delivered a road built to last, which will serve future generations,” Tinubu said. “We recognise your role as partners in building Nigeria’s future.”

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that infrastructure development remains inclusive, balanced, and impactful across all regions.

“We will continue until every Nigerian can feel the touch of meaningful governance,” he said. “Own it. Develop it. Let us build a Nigeria where no community is left behind.”

He formally commissioned the A2–Pia Town Road “to the Glory of God and Service to Humanity,” and expressed hope that the project would bring peace, pride, and prosperity to Pia Town and its surroundings.

The commissioning is part of a broader initiative by the Tinubu administration to establish infrastructure as a foundation for national progress, particularly in areas that have historically been underdeveloped.
