NFL star Calvin Anderson and wife launch JB5 investments to redefine real estate in Nigeria

American football star, Calvin Anderson and international lawyer Sheree Lanihun-Anderson have unveiled a bold new real estate initiative in Nigeria, JB5 Investments, marking the couple’s return to their African roots with a mission to build more than just homes — but a lasting legacy grounded in faith, family, and purpose.

Their company, JB5 Investments, has officially launched operations in Lagos, promising to bring world-class construction standards and people-centered housing solutions to Nigeria’s fragmented and often under-regulated real estate market.

The couple, who eloped in the Colorado mountains to begin their life together in a quiet, intentional way, say the foundation of JB5 is a direct reflection of their values.

Anderson, an offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, said, “Faith, family, and finance — that’s our formula. We believe love should create impact, and our investments should uplift people.”

Sheree Lanihun-Anderson, a Cambridge-educated real estate lawyer and daughter of respected Ibadan businessman Tunji Lanihun, serves as the strategic lead on the company’s mission-driven development model.

“Every investment we make is a legacy move. JB5 is about more than structures — it’s about health, dignity, and the future of Nigerian families. We want to redefine what it means to come home,” she said.

JB5 Investments has set itself apart by integrating health, safety, and environmental sustainability into every build.

The Projects will feature kn-shower water filtration systems, giving families access to clean, skin-safe water — a rarity in Nigerian housing, non-slip staircase tiles and child-safe finishes, prioritizing security for growing families and high-grade aluminum windows and fittings, chosen for durability and resilience in harsh climates

Others are natural ventilation and smart design layouts, tailored to enhance daily living and energy efficiency.

“We’re building the kind of homes we’d want to raise our children in. Clean water, safety, functionality — these are not luxuries, they’re human rights,” said Sheree.

At the helm of JB5’s Nigerian operations is Tunji Lanihun, who brings decades of experience in the real estate and transportation sectors.

Known across the Southwest as a founding member of the Lanihun Brothers, Lanihun is highly regarded for his integrity and business acumen.

“This is not just a family business. This is about setting a new benchmark for future developments in Nigeria. We’re committed to doing things differently — and doing them right,” he said.

Lanihun’s deep local insight and expansive network are expected to play a critical role as JB5 navigates Nigeria’s regulatory environment and scales its developments across the country.

For the Andersons, the JB5 venture is more than a business; it is a deeply personal return to identity and heritage.

Their Lagos projects are the first step in what they describe as a broader movement to reconnect the African diaspora through meaningful investment and community building.

“This is about giving back to a country that’s part of who we are. We’re not just investing in land — we’re investing in people, in potential, and in pride,” Anderson said.
