Fruit market

The Niger State Government has announced plans to establish a dedicated fruit market in Minna aimed at boosting agriculture, stimulating the state’s economy, and alleviating poverty in both rural and urban areas.

Governor Mohammed Bago made the announcement during a meeting with members of the Niger State Fruit Sellers Association at the Government House in Minna.

He explained that the fruit market would serve as a catalyst for agricultural development, supporting the state’s broader agenda to increase food production and generate employment opportunities.

Governor Bago reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the agricultural sector, emphasizing that the new fruit market would be instrumental in driving Niger State’s agricultural revolution.

Expressing gratitude, Governor Bago thanked the Fruit Sellers Association for gifting him 3,000 orange seedlings to be planted on his farm, noting that the seedlings will significantly contribute to the state’s economic growth and development.

He also used the occasion to encourage citizens to venture into farming, highlighting its vast potential as a sustainable source of income.

The Chairman of the Niger State Fruit Sellers Association, Salisu Muhd, said their visit was to appreciate the governor’s efforts, particularly in agricultural mechanization and his ongoing support for the association, which has positively impacted their fruit-selling businesses.

He added that the association members are eager to visit the governor’s farm to plant the 3,000 orange seedlings as a gesture of encouragement and partnership in fruit production.
