The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to the successful implementation of a strategic roadmap designed to foster national cohesion, development, and unity across the country.
Speaking during a media engagement in Asaba, the Delta State Director of NOA, Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, emphasised the urgent need for a deliberate and inclusive strategy to unite Nigerians and ensure even development across all regions.
Ikolomi disclosed that the agency has proposed a comprehensive strategy to address specific challenges facing various zones and states in Nigeria, which is at the heart of its new campaign aimed at rebuilding trust and promoting national unity.
“There is a need for unity. There is a need for cohesion. There is a need for us to come together as a country and as a people to ensure that our country does not disintegrate. If we destroy our nation, we will have no other country.
Therefore, we must not allow this drum for war to have its place in our society,” she said.
She called on citizens, particularly the youth, to become active agents of positive change, stressing that national progress can only be achieved through unity and reconciliation. “We must see Nigeria as a united nation where divisions can only weaken us. We must support each other and our communities by promoting healing, peace, and reconciliation,” Ikolomi added.
The NOA director also emphasised the importance of building trust between the people and government institutions, noting that improved inter-community dialogue and social cohesion are crucial to reducing tensions and resolving persistent national issues.
Addressing the country’s security concerns, Ikolomi pointed to challenges such as herders-farmers conflicts, kidnappings, and youth restiveness, particularly in Delta North’s Ndokwa/Ukwuani areas, where residents have endured power outages for over two decades.
She noted that the NOA has intensified its sensitisation efforts using a common-ground approach to tackle these issues, stressing that the agency would begin organising town hall meetings across the state in July to gather input from all segments of society and forge lasting solutions to pressing national concerns.
Mrs. Ikolomi urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of ongoing challenges, but to support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which she said is geared toward economic revival and social development.
“We should not allow all these negative issues confronting us to override our society. We should play our part as citizens of this great country to ensure that Nigeria remains a great nation. We are resilient people. Let us believe that things will get better by playing our part and ending the blame game”, the NOA state director said.
