The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal attack on Christian Benjamin Ediegene, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Okana in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe Koko, the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Ayama Police Division in Abua Central and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for further investigation.
The CDC chairman was attacked on June 29, 2025, while heading to his farm. A group of boys ambushed him, macheting him on the head, shoulder, and hand.
Ediegene recounted the incident, saying, “At about 7 am, I was going to my farm, a group of boys ambushed me, macheted me on the head, shoulder, and hand.”
He said he managed to force himself to the main road, where community members found him and took him to the police station in Abua Central.
“For now, I am demanding justice. I heard the police have arrested some of them. I was unconscious, but now I am recovering, at least I can talk a little.”
The CDC Chairman disclosed that he is in shock as he has yet to ascertain the reason the youths attacked him.
