Olorunleke Olorunshola, a certified Power Platform developer and enterprise solution architect, was named one of the Iconic Personalities of the Year 2023, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to technology, digital transformation, and mentorship across Africa’s enterprise space.
The award celebrated individuals who made a meaningful impact through innovation, leadership, and social influence over the past year. Olorunshola earned the honour for his groundbreaking work in deploying low-code Microsoft solutions that automate manual processes, improve operational efficiency, and empower organisations to build smarter systems from within.
“It was a humbling moment,” he shared. “What made it special wasn’t just the title, but what it represented, a growing belief across Africa that low-code isn’t just a trend, it’s a tool for real progress. I’m proud to be part of that movement.”
Olorunshola successfully delivered over a dozen high-impact solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse, across industries ranging from financial services to construction and public governance. One of his most celebrated projects that year was the deployment of a full-stack customer service case management system using Dynamics 365 and Model-Driven Apps. The platform improved case resolution speed by 35 per cent and introduced service-level standardisation across multiple departments.
At the heart of his recognition was not just technical skill, but his commitment to mentorship and democratized access. Olorunshola trained over 100 professionals in 2023 alone, many of them non-technical users, helping them understand and deploy their own custom solutions. He also led community workshops, developed reusable components for internal teams, and championed a culture of innovation within large-scale organisations.
“Empowering others is just as important as delivering systems,” he said. “I’ve seen firsthand how people light up when they realize they can build apps or automate tasks without writing complex code. That’s the kind of shift that creates long-term impact.”
In addition to project delivery and mentoring, Olorunshola also played a strategic role in establishing governance frameworks for Power Platform adoption. He advised enterprise teams on environment strategy, DLP policies, lifecycle controls, and governance best practices, helping organizations scale their low-code initiatives responsibly.
He credits much of his success to staying rooted in purpose and solving real business problems. “My approach has always been simple,” he added. “Listen deeply. Build with empathy. And create systems that people actually want to use.”
As one of the standout figures in Africa’s growing low-code movement, Olorunshola’s recognition as an Iconic Personality of the Year affirms his role not just as a developer, but as a visionary shaping the future of work through accessible, user-focused technology.
