Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga, has lauded Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his inclusive and consultative approach to governance.
He gave the commendation in Sokoto while assessing the two-year performance of the legislative chamber.
Bodinga said that despite the governor’s enormous powers, he has consistently consulted with the legislature and involved it in decision-making processes.
“This collaborative approach underscores the governor’s recognition of the Assembly as partners in the Sokoto State project.
“The relationship between the Executive and the Legislature is very cordial, and it is the same with the judiciary, although our interaction with the judiciary is limited due to their distinct roles as arbiters,” he said.
The Speaker noted that the three arms of government in the state are married by the Constitution to work in harmony in the greater interest of the people.
He attributed the smooth working relationship to Governor Aliyu’s leadership style, adding that he has treated the Assembly with utmost respect and considered it as partners in progress.
“The governor, in spite of his enormous powers, consults the Assembly and carries it along because he understands that all structures of government are partners in the Sokoto State project,” Bodinga said.
The Speaker stressed that the House seriously oversees the executive arm of government and its agencies.
