Supporting Peter Obi doesn’t make you holier – Seyi Law

Popular comedian, Oluwaseyitan Aletile, professionally known as Seyi Law, has addressed supporters of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over what he described as self-righteous behaviour towards others with different political views.

The comedian made the remarks in a post shared on Friday via his verified X handle, reaffirming that every Nigerian has the right to choose any candidate without being insulted for their choice.

He wrote, “It is your right to support PETER OBI, but to feel that you are holier than others for making their own choice as a constitutionally given right is stupidity.”

Seyi Law, who declared his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections, has repeatedly faced criticism from Obi’s supporters online.

In the same post, he accused popular entertainer and blogger, Tunde Ednut, of allegedly trying to damage his image.

The comedian wrote in Yoruba, “Iran igbin kan o kin fese rin. Tunde Ednut for working hard to tarnish my image. Iran e kan o ni fese rin. Bejo se n faya tomotomo to n sinto, la ma ri nile e.”

In a follow-up, he also posted an image with a direct message to Ednut, which read, “Tunde Ednut, as long as I have never collected one kobo from any politician to campaign for him or her, May all that you have built in dignity be rubbished with nonsense as you lie on me.”

He ended his post with, “I will not say more.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither Peter Obi nor Tunde Ednut had responded to the post.
