As part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and improve security across Oyo State, the State Governor Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, handed over six newly refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command.
The vehicles were officially presented during a special ceremony held at the Governor’s Office premises in Agodi, Ibadan.
Speaking through his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, during the official handover, Makinde emphasised the importance of supporting security operations to ensure the safety of lives and property.
While presenting the keys of the vehicles to the State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, the governor described the donation as a demonstration of his government’s commitment to combating crime and maintaining peace in the state.
In their separate remarks, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Sunday Odukoya, commended Makinde for his proactive approach to security and consistent support for law enforcement agencies in the state.
They assured that the newly handed-over APCs would be deployed effectively in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety across the state. The event was attended by commissioners and some security advisers.
