Why Nigeria needs restructuring before 2027 polls – PFN chieftain

The National Director, Directorate of Politics and Governance, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, and Presiding Pastor of Livingspring Chapel International, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, on Wednesday said Nigeria needs restructuring now, adding that it can be achieved before the 2027 general elections.

The pastor made this statement during a press conference held on the occasion of his 70th birthday at the church’s Guest House in Ibadan. The programmes for the celebration began on Monday, while Dr Akin Fapohunda gave a public lecture on Wednesday with the theme: ”Re-fixing Nigeria.” Pastor Adejare Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and his Ondo State counterpart, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, among others, are expected to attend the programmes, which will climax on Sunday.

Emmanuel maintained that nothing would work in the country unless Nigeria was restructured, pointing out that previous elections had not solved the country’s problems. He stated that restructuring would help the country in many ways. He emphasised that if elections were held, all agitations, insecurity, and trouble would continue.

He said, ”If we want restructuring before 2027, it can be realised. The 2014 Confab Report can be looked into to restructure the country. All we need to do is bring out the document and make some amendments. What we need now is not an election but reconfiguring Nigeria. If we have the will, it is possible to realise restructuring.

”If elections are held, all agitations will continue, insecurity will continue, trouble will continue, Nothing will work in the country unless we restructure. Nothing will work unless Nigeria is restructured. This country has to be restructured. Nigeria must be progressive and working. We must go back to the original Nigeria that was envisioned by our founding fathers’.’

While decrying talks and politicking about 2027 polls by politicians, Emmanuel urged leaders to face governance, adding: ”It is total distraction, that is why there is no development.”
