Residents of Abuja will get a rare opportunity to see the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy on Monday as the victorious Super Falcons return home following their historic title win in Morocco.

The Nigerian contingent is expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by noon, after which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will lead a celebratory parade across major parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the trophy parade will feature an open-roof bus procession through key areas including Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market, before culminating at the Presidential Villa.

“We are making arrangements to have a trophy parade with the players and their coaches in an open-roof bus… This will afford a good number of people in those areas to have a rare sight of the Women AFCON trophy,” Sanusi said in a statement on Sunday.

The Super Falcons secured a record-extending 10th WAFCON title on Saturday night with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) is expected to receive the team at the Presidential Villa later on Monday.
